SHOULDER SURGERY

The shoulder is one of the largest and most complex joints in the body. The shoulder is a ball can socket type joint in which the humerus fits into the scapula, held together with ligaments, muscles and tendons. Various conditions and sport-related injuries may affect these ligaments, muscle and tendons such as frozen shoulder, arthritis, tearing of the rotator cuff, tendonitis and bursitis in the rotator cuff, shoulder instability as well as dislocations and fractures of the shoulder. Surgery is often the best treatment method for shoulder conditions, especially those that don't respond to conservative methods. Shoulder surgeries may be advised by Dr Nhlapo and performed using minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques, or in some cases, open surgery when deemed appropriate.
